Looking forward to this weekend family-get-together (minus my bro's family) here in Peninsular. ..weeee...can't wait to see Raiyan (and his dad too) this Thursday..He's growing up fast and his current addiction is watching Sid The Science Kid on his galaxy tab. Was told that he is so into Sid that he would dance along with Sid..can't wait to witness that..
However, the fact that it'll take 4 days to reach Friday, and 4 more days to be in the office, makes me hate Monday so much..
So much to do yet so little time to accomplished all that needs to be done.
On top of that, the sometime-irritating-unnecessary nag from a colleague adds up to the accumulated pain and agony of having to bear with Monday.
It is during this time that I wish my dear state government to please give me the much needed reply. I'm not born to wait.

It was a normal boring Sunday and I decided to bake snow almond cookies. This is my first trial and it turned out well despite the messy aftermath.

Iftar Day 5
oven baked dory |
Prepared simple dish for Iftar Day 4. Oven baked dory fillet + oven baked chips + grilled chicken sandwich. My excitement to prepare iftar dish has reduced since yesterday. Hence the simple iftar today.

Iftar Day 4
grilled chicken sandwich |
During my good old days back home, grilled chicken sandwich is a must during iftar. The original recipe was bits of fried chicken+cucumber slices sandwiched between plain bread which was spread with butter+chili sauce. Might sound simple and boring to some but I treasure every piece my mom's dish and surprisingly, after all these years, her cooking never fails me, not even once. Every son/daughter would say the same about their moms, wouldn't they?

Iftar Day 3
My first onde onde attempt |
I'm back to having Iftar alone today. I came back early from work as the meeting I attended ended early. Considering the ample time I had before Iftar, I challenged myself to make onde onde/ kueh buah melaka. This might be the simplest and easiest kueh to prepare on the whole wide world, but to me, it was not as easy as I thought it would be. The whole process of making a round shape was horror and time taken to make 14 onde onde balls was about 30 minutes..Glad that it was a success..a great achievement!
Iftar Day 2
I ha two options for Iftar on the second day of Ramadhan which was chicken curry or chicken soup. My first thought was to have chicken curry with roti jala but the plan wasn't executable since I do not own any roti jala utensils. So i chose to have soup instead. Little did i realise that it was the best and hassle free dish since I could just throw everything into the pot.
And the best part was, I didn't have to think of what vege dish to prepare.

Iftar Day 1
I don't know what strikes me this Ramadhan. I have the sudden urge to prepare a list of dish/pastry/kueh. From kueh bongkol, onde-onde, seri muka, it's all trapped in my head.
As for iftar today,I was doubtful whether I should be making onde-onde or chicken pie. Considering the fact that I'll be having iftar by myself on the first day of Ramadhan, I settled for chicken pie. Leftovers can be eaten the next day.
So I wrestled in the kitchen to prepare the said pie as early as 3 p.m.and three hours later, this is the outcome.

i hope they taste good |
Looks a bit off, I know..but for an amateur and first timer, I would say that it was a success. Taste wise, is yet to be determine as iftar is 75 minutes away.

A new start
Much has happened since I last blogged about 4 moons ago..But one thing remains the same...I am still here in Putrajaya, and still in the wait to be shifted to Kuching, which I consider as the 8th wonder of the world.
Muslims across the country will begin fasting tomorrow, 1 Ramadhan 1433H. Personally, it is best to be in Kuching during this holy month. The food bazaar is just awesome..From grilled terubok to umai to bubur pedas to kueh bongkol, can all be found in the food bazaar.. Grilled terubok and kueh bongkol is what i missed most..
